Amar Singh to Act in Bengali Film Opposite Jaya Bachhan

Amar Singh, Samajwadi Party General Secretary will act in a Bengali movie, which also stars close family friend and Bollywood actress Jaya Bachchan.Singh will play the role of a politician in the film titled "Sesh Sanghat" (last conflict).The story line revolves around a girl from a poor family, played by Bachchan, who is exploited physically and mentally by a powerful feudal lobby and joins insurgents who promise her justice, said the director of the film Ashok Visvanathan."Amarji gave a commendable performance. His dialogues in accented Bengali were keeping with the character he plays and his long association with Kolkata also certainly helped," the director said.Asked why Singh was chosen for the role, Visvanathan said people associated him with politics. "None other will be so convincing to the audience." The film is set in a village on the Bengal Jharkhand border and also stars Bollywood actors Jackie Shroff, Ashis Vidyarthi and Sabyasachi Chakraborty.Shroff portrays the role of an IPS officer who discovers the exploitation of the have nots at the hands of the still dominant feudal section of rural areas and how politics, money and the police contribute to perpetuate the system and is reformed.
