Paswan Gives Beacon Call for Private Sector Reservations

Ram Vilas Paswan the President of the Lok Janshakti Party today demanded that reservation be provided in the private sector before the Lok Sabha polls."Our party is demanding it from the very beginning. It is high time the government should decide on the matter and it should be implemented before the Lok Sabha polls," LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan said in a press conference here. The cabinet minister said the increase of the private sector is a cause of concern and poor people are deprived in getting jobs.Besides he said the growth of naxalism is generally in areas which are 'most backward' and inhabited by Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. This is a socio-economic issue and should be tackled accordingly.Paswan's demand came a few days after Mayawati extended the scope of her reservation policy by announcing reservation in private firms under the public-private partnership model. The UP government's decision aims to ensure reservation in all the outsourcing firms and individual companies which carry out jobs for government and semi-government departments and agencies.Paswan took a dim view of the measures being taken by Mayawati to implement reservation in the state and demanded 22 per cent reservation for SCs in government jobs.
