Ramvilas Paswan: LJP part of UPA

Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ramvilas Paswan on Saturday said his party is very much a part of the Congress-led UPA and would expect  it to win more seats than last time in Bihar.

"The UPA should get more seats in Bihar than last time... I still say we are with UPA and will strengthen it," he told reporters.

Paswan's remarks come in the light of strained relations between Lalu Prasad-led RJD and Congress in Bihar over sharing of seats for the upcoming Lok Sabha election in the state.

The LJP chief, however, refused to comment on Congress party's announcement that it would contest 37 out of 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar.

"I won't comment on this as I have an alliance with RJD in the state. What can I say if the Congress has decided to contest 37 seats there. I will comment after discussions with Laluji," he said.

On the possibility of Congress putting up candidates against LJP nominees, Paswan said "Laluji will be consulted in this regard."
