INDORE BLOGGER SYMPOSIUM

A Blogger’s Symposium was successfully organized by Scratchmysoul.com on Sunday, 16th August at Hotel Fortune Landmark, Indore. The main theme of the event was “Blogging As A Tool of Social Expression”. This was the second of a series of events. The first such symposium was held in Bhopal on April 10, 2009. With EWDPL as the main sponsor and Dainik Bhaskar as the media partner the Indore symposium was one more step in Scratchmysoul’s initiative of Social Responsibility. The occasion was graced by the presence of eminent speakers and guests.

IIM director Dr.N Ravichandran and Indore Mayor Dr. Uma Shashi Sharma were the Chief guests of the function. Other eminent personalities who graced the occasion included Principal Secretary, Urban Development, Govt of Madhya Pradesh Raghav Chandra, IAS, who is also the chief mentor of this website, Abhilash Khandekar, State Editor Dainik Bhaskar and Alok Purohit COO Dainik Bhaskar for Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh.

The audience included prominent personalities of Indore like Amay Khurasiya, the former India cricket international, social activists Janak and Jimmy Mc Gilligan of the Barli Institute for Rural Women, the activist cum blogger Rahul Banerjee, the renowned photographer Ashish Dubey whose work has featured in National Geographic, the renowned photographer and founder of The Nature Volunteers Bhalu Mondhe and Chartered Accountant, wildlife photographer and nature lover Dinesh Kothari.

The event was successfully organised by blogger and freelance writer Dev Kumar Vasudevan and was well co-ordinated by Deepa Vanjani, Professor of English, Gujarati Science College, Indore, while Rachna Johri and Vinod Tiwari, documentary film makers formed the jury. Ashfaq Ahmed and Priyank Shrivastava in Bhopal handled the online registrations and reached Indore in the wee hours of Sunday with the freshly printed copies of the inaugural issue of Blogger’s Park magazine.

The “Bloggers Park” magazine which contains the best of the blogs posted at this site was launched during the programme by Dr Uma shashi. As a part of the event a blog reading contest was organized where the participants read out a blog post from either their own blog or a blog of their choice. The winners included bloggers Navin Rangiyal, Nainy Sahani, Prateek Kotha, Suruchi Biyani, Aditya Desai and Mridul Dadhich.

In his inaugural speech CEO Scratchmysoul.com Mr. Pravir Krishak gave a detailed account of the website scratchmysoul.com which included watchdog service where by the users could inform police of any suspicious activity they had seen by sending a text message to a specified number. However this would be done in such a manner that the sender’s identity would be kept secret.

The chief mentor of the website Mr. Raghav Chandra in his keynote address discussed the development and history of blogging and its huge potential. He also regaled the audience with humorous incidents from the world of blogging. He also touched upon the legal issues involved with blogging.

Dr. N. Ravichandran in his eloquent address exhorted the blogging community to use the power of technology in the right manner by writing blogs on socially relevant themes. Dr. Uma Shashi Sharma expressed her happiness on this initiative of scratchmysoul.com she also expressed her happiness on seeing the positive response of the bloggers of Indore.

The event was widely covered by the media and was deeply appreciated by the thought leaders & intellectual fraternity of Indore.
